We at Coláiste Lorcáin believe in providing each student with a comprehensive and well balanced education which takes cognisance of their physical, intellectual, social and emotional development. To assist us with this task the school has a wide range of facilities.

Classroom Facilities

General Classrooms, Music Room, Home Economics Room, Engineering and Building Construction Workshops, Technical Graphics Room, Art and Craft Room, Science Laboratories, Computer Rooms, Business Studies Room (incl. Keyboard Skills), Library and a large Gymnasium, which includes a fully equipped stage and hall for shows and other events.

School Library

The school library provides books for both leisure and information. Students are encouraged to read, as reading develops their style of writing, an important aspect of today’s education. We have recently invested in an online lending facility. I is expected that students will use the facility and make more frequent visits to the library. Our school book rental and lending scheme will be managed through the library online lending application in future years.

Parents’ Council

Parents of our students have formed a Parents’ Council which supports school activities.

The Parents’ Council:

• organise lectures and talks for our students and their parents
• subsidise transport to sports
• assist in the organisation of school musicals, retreats, debates, etc.
• fund scholarships to An Ghaeltacht
• organise social events for parents, students and teachers.

Supervised Night Study

Night time study facilities, supervised by teachers, are available to all pupils, depending on demand. Facilities are provided each night

Monday - Thursday 4.00pm - 6.00pm.

Canteen

To facilitate students who wish to take lunch in school, full canteen facilities are provided. Hot and cold lunches are provided at a very reasonable fee.
