One of six in the country - Coláiste Lorcáin Student gets 12 As in Junior Cert

One of only six students in Ireland, Miranda Faul, has received 12 As in this year’s Junior Certificate Exams. Miranda, a TY student in Coláiste Lorcáin, Castledermot has been heralded an ‘all rounder’ by Principal Eric Gaughran. Miranda, who sat higher level in twelve JC subjects, is a keen sportswoman as well as being academically bright. She is particularly passionate about music and art. ‘The results are once again outstanding this year and we as a small school community are equally as proud of the achievements of the other 60 students who sat JC this year as we are of Miranda” said Principal Eric Gaughran.

Ist Prize Win at The National Law Mock Trial Competition

A big congratulations is in order for our TY’15 law team. The team travelled to Tullamore last Thursday to take on 8 teams in the National Law Mock Trials. The team took on CBS, Portlaoise to win the first round. The semifinal round was an easy victory against Colaiste na Carraige, Donegal.  We then faced tough competition from Presentation College, Athenry in a tense final. The team battled hard to achieve a 3 point victory. This is our very first time to win first prize and bring home the Perpetual Shield to Colaiste Lorcain. Well to done all for their tremendous hard work!
